Unlike other Medicare Advantage plans, Memorial Hermann's Medicare advantage plans allow you to go see anyone for an eye exam and for glasses.

They provide all members a prepaid spending card that any optometry or ophthalmology office should take. Think of it like a FSA card.
The flexibility of this plan is great but it does mean your typical copays and allowances do not apply here.

For example, some patients may be familiar with a copay that is required to get an eye exam. In this plan, a copay doesn't apply, instead, you will be responsible for the listed price of the place you go to.

Similarly, other plans may specify a copay or an allowance that they get to use at a discounted price. An example of that is some plans "give you $150 for your frame allowance, and a 20% overage discount on the remainder." Instead, on this plan, you will be responsible for the original frame price.

After the total price is calculated, your plan gives you $500 on a prepaid card that you apply to your order, with you being responsible for any remainder.
